Granite City Food & Brewery to Open in Prime Kansas City Location

MINNEAPOLIS, June 29, 2005 - Granite City Food & Brewery Ltd. (Nasdaq: GCFB) announced today it plans to open a Granite City Food & Brewery® in The Legends at Village West in Kansas City, Kansas.the fourth restaurant the company plans to open in 2005.

"We are very excited with the entertainment aspect of this location.at the epicenter of the single largest tourist attraction in the state of Kansas," said Steve Wagenheim, Granite City Food & Brewery's President and CEO. The Legends is an 805,000-square-foot, open-air lifestyle center surrounded by major destinations including Cabela's, Warren Buffet's Nebraska Furniture Mart, a baseball stadium and the NASCAR Kansas Speedway. "We believe we have the best site in the entire development as we are on the hard corner of the major intersection of this complex," said Wagenheim. "The traffic generated with the synergy of this tourism district will potentially allow us to draw customers from a few hundred miles away. We believe this is truly a one-of-a-kind project."

In addition to opening at The Legends in Kansas City, the company has announced its plans to open in Wichita, Kansas on July 5, 2005, as well as in Eagan, Minnesota and in two Kansas City locations later this year. Wagenheim said the company's developer is currently negotiating on additional sites in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Minnesota for continued expansion under its 4-6-8 plan for opening restaurants in the Midwest through 2007.
