Granite City Food & Brewery® Breaks Ground in Wichita, Kansas

MINNEAPOLIS, March 10, 2005 - Granite City Food & Brewery Ltd. (Nasdaq: GCFB) announced today that construction is underway in Wichita, Kansas, where they plan to open their 9th Granite City Food & Brewery® in July 2005.

"We are very excited to be kicking off our next round of expansion in Wichita," said Steve Wagenheim, Granite City Food & Brewery's President and CEO. "We are targeting an aggressive three year expansion schedule to round out the upper Midwest before moving on to another region. We plan to open 18 restaurants in three years in markets such as Kansas City, Wisconsin, St. Louis and Minneapolis/St. Paul. Our continued expansion in varying sized markets throughout the Midwest, affords us an opportunity to increase our Granite City brand recognition and to take further advantage of the quality, consistency and efficiency our Fermentus Interruptus™ brewing process provides us across multiple locations."

Wagenheim said the Company is currently in final negotiations for several additional sites for their planned expansion in the Midwest in 2006 and 2007.
